Murray (Elizabeth) is born in Scotland.

Elizabeth Murray arrives in Boston in 1749, and opens a business selling imported cloth and dry goods near the corner of today’s Court Street and Washington Street (then Cornhill Street and Queen Street). Murray becomes one of the first successful businesswomen in Boston. She marries three times and dies in 1785.
